Field experiments at five South Texas locations from 1992 to 1995 evaluated eight postemergence herbicides alone or in combination for golden crownbeard control and peanut yield. Imazapic provided inconsistent golden crownbeard control regardless of rate. Bentazon and 2,4-DB alone controlled ≥ 90% golden crownbeard while acifluorfen at 0.42 kg/ha and pyridate provided ≥ 80% control. Bromoxynil and imazethapyr alone or acifluorfen plus bentazon provided inconsistent golden crownbeard control.
